3. Booking and Payment Providers
Shutter Tours uses third-party systems to help manage reservations and payments. These providers may collect information directly from you when you make a reservation or payment.
Our booking platform may include FareHarbor. Depending on the transaction and booking method, payment processing may also involve providers such as Stripe or Square.
Shutter Tours generally does not receive or store your complete payment-card number when payment is processed through these providers. Their handling of payment and personal information is governed by their own terms and privacy notices.
4. Cookies and Website Analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for website functionality, security, measurement, and analytics.
We use Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics may collect information such as browser and device information, pages visited, interactions with the website, and approximate location information. Google provides controls that allow website operators to manage data collection, retention, and advertising-related features.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies may affect how some website features work.
For additional information about Google’s privacy practices and controls, visit Google’s Privacy Policy and Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
If we use a cookie or consent-management tool that gives you additional choices, your selections through that tool will apply as described there.
5. Marketing Communications
If you sign up for marketing communications or otherwise consent to receive them, we may send information about Shutter Tours, upcoming tours, seasonal offerings, or related services.
You may unsubscribe from marketing emails by using the unsubscribe option provided in the message or by contacting us. Transactional and service-related communications, such as booking confirmations or tour updates, are not marketing messages and may still be sent when necessary to provide your reservation.
6. How We Share Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients when reasonably necessary:
- Booking and payment providers that support reservations and transactions
- Technology and hosting providers that help operate and secure our website and systems
- Analytics providers that help us understand website usage
- Transportation providers, attractions, or other service partners when information is necessary to fulfill a private tour, group booking, or requested service
- Professional advisers, such as accountants, insurers, attorneys, or other advisers when reasonably necessary
- Government authorities or law enforcement when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect legal rights or safety
- A successor or potential successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business
We do not sell guest reservation information for money.
7. Accessibility, Mobility, and Other Health-Related Information
Guests sometimes voluntarily provide information about mobility, allergies, service-animal needs, or other circumstances so that we can answer questions or determine whether an accommodation can be made.
We ask guests not to provide medical records, diagnoses, or other health information that is not reasonably necessary for the requested accommodation. We use accommodation-related information for the purpose of responding to the request, planning the service, protecting guest safety where appropriate, and complying with applicable law.
Washington law may provide additional rights and requirements for certain information that qualifies as “consumer health data.” Shutter Tours will handle such information in accordance with applicable law.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing services, maintaining business and transaction records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, complying with tax and accounting obligations, maintaining insurance records, and satisfying other legal requirements.
Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and the reason it was collected. When information is no longer reasonably needed, we may delete it, anonymize it, or securely dispose of it, subject to legal and operational requirements.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s Privacy
Our tours may be appropriate for families and children, but our website and online booking services are intended to be used by adults. We do not knowingly solicit personal information directly from children under 13.
A parent or guardian may provide limited information about a child when making a family reservation. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us without appropriate parental involvement, please contact us so we can review the matter.
11. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live and which privacy laws apply, you may have rights concerning personal information about you, which can include the right to:
- Request access to personal information we maintain about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of certain personal information
- Request a copy of certain information in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent when processing is based on consent
- Opt out of certain advertising, sale, or sharing activities where applicable
- Appeal a privacy-rights decision where applicable law provides that right
Privacy laws differ by jurisdiction and some laws apply only to businesses that meet specific statutory thresholds. Shutter Tours will honor privacy rights when required by applicable law and may also consider reasonable requests more broadly where practical.
To submit a privacy request, contact us using the information at the bottom of this page. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
12. California and Other U.S. State Privacy Laws
Some U.S. states provide residents with additional privacy rights, but many of those laws apply only when a business meets statutory revenue, data-volume, or other thresholds.
If a state privacy law applies to Shutter Tours and to your personal information, we will provide and honor the rights required by that law.
Shutter Tours does not sell guest reservation information for money. If our data practices materially change in a way that creates additional opt-out rights under an applicable state law, we will update this policy and provide any required mechanism.
13. Do Not Track and Browser Privacy Signals
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. Because there is no single universally adopted technical standard for legacy Do Not Track signals, our website does not currently respond to those signals as a separate privacy control.
Where applicable law requires recognition of a legally specified browser-based opt-out preference signal for particular data processing, we will comply as required.
14. International Visitors
Shutter Tours is based in the United States. If you access our website or book a tour from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate.
If the European Union General Data Protection Regulation, United Kingdom GDPR, or another international privacy law applies to a particular interaction, our legal bases for processing may include performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate business interests, and consent where required.
Where applicable law requires specific safeguards for international data transfers, we will use legally recognized transfer mechanisms or other appropriate safeguards.
15. Third-Party Websites and Services
Our website may contain links to third-party websites, attractions, booking platforms, restaurants, social-media services, or other businesses. We do not control the privacy practices of those third parties. Their privacy policies apply when you interact directly with them.
16. Business Transfers
If Shutter Tours is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, legal requirements, or privacy practices. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page identifies the current version.
Material changes will be communicated in the manner required by applicable law.
